Most people open an AI, type one line, and wait. "Write me a post about my business." What comes back is grammatical, confident, and forgettable. They quietly decide AI is overrated.
They treated a thinking partner like a vending machine. Put in a coin, get a snack. It had no idea who you are or what you are trying to make happen, so it gave the average answer to the average question. That is not the tool failing. That is the tool doing exactly what it was asked, which was almost nothing.

A bare task, no context. The machine fills the gaps with the most average words that fit.
Result: generic. True of anyone, so true of no one.

One thing to settle now, so it never trips you up later. This course uses Claude for every example, because you work in one tool to actually learn, not bounce between five. But almost nothing here is really about Claude. Directing instead of operating, bringing the context only you have, keeping the judgment for yourself: that works the same in ChatGPT, in Gemini, in whatever launches next. You are learning a way of working, not one company's buttons. Where a step is genuinely Claude-specific, I will say so.

Take one real thing you would ask an AI to write this week. Write it bare. Then rewrite it with the four things above. Run both. Compare.
Right if someone could tell your brief was about you, not a generic version of your job.
Show the worked solution
Say the bare order was "write a post about my camera shop." The directed version names all four things: Who it's for (locals nervous about buying old gear online), What is true (every camera opened, cleaned, tested by hand in a one-person shop in Varna), How you sound (plain, dry, no hype), What to avoid ("passionate," "journey," awards-speech). The bare order returns something true of any shop. The brief returns something only your shop could have said. If a stranger reading the output could not guess it was yours, you under-supplied context, not "prompted wrong."
